Still cannot eat...for 17 days, now...

I have tried eating bland food like rice, a bite of chicken, chicken broth, pasta, canned fruit, apple sauce, etc...they all make me sick. I am NEVER HUNGRY. I have not been hungry since before the surgery on May 04. I force myself to eat 2 slices of toast and 1-2 servings of jello a day. I drink water and sweet tea. I have low sodium and potassium and my doctor may send me for i.v. fluids next week. I am also anemic.

I saw my rep endo (surgeon) again this past Thursday and he is baffled with my body's reaction and inability to eat. We think it is a reaction to the anesthesia. I had more blood tests done (every week I have blood tests.) I did not have the CT because it seems to have nothing to do with the actual surgery. I do not have pain or any sign of infection.

I may see my GI this week if I continue to not be able to eat. I get sick after eating ANYTHING. I have become weaker and weaker-I even fainted after taking a shower the other day. I sleep a lot and vedge the rest of the time. I only went to doctors last week-otherwise I was home in bed. I have lost about 15#s. I gained back two for some unknown reason.

I do think that it is related to the Cushing's-I think my cortisol is LOW. I have absolutely no energy and am very weak. I may call my neuro-endo tomorrow to see what he says.

I am supposed to have a root canal done on Wednesday, but I don't know if I should-my body may not be able to handle it. I took my Daddy to his chemo treatments this past week and that wore me out! I slept for hours after we came home.

Well, that is my update for now...crazy reaction!

The plus is that I am losing weight-just not in a good way!

Take care.

Meri
