Been there, done that. I was on Sandostatin LAR for several months and the hair loss started immediately. Piles of it in the shower and bathroom. I ended up with male patttern baldness - great for the self esteem of a woman. My endo stated that he had seen this happen before including a patient who loss ALL of her hair. Unfortunately (or fortunately as the case may be), Sandostatin did not control my IGF-1 levels. I switched from Sandostatin LAR to Somavert and my hair is growing back. According to my endo, the Sandostatin puts the follicles to sleep (rather than killing them) so if you stop the Sandostatin the hair will return. Discuss this issue with your endo. |
