Dear Mystenia
I was diagnosed 5 years ago with a non-secreting macroadenoma. When we found the tumor, my prolactin was elevated due to "stalk effect." When I was first diagnosed, they didn't know if my tumor was non-secreting or a prolactinoma. They found out when they did surgery and removed the tumor and sent it to the pathologist to see what type of tumor it is. In my experience, in the last 5 years, I have found that many doctors do not understand all of the symptoms that patients with pitutiary tumors suffer from, regardless of the type of tumor they have or the level of their hormones. Prior to 1998, I felt great and had a great life. Since we found the tumor, I have suffered from a daily 24/7 headache, fatige and vertigo. All of this is incapacitating for me and because ofthese syptoms I am currently on a disability. I have written an article that I have submitted to the PDES, Pituitary Disorders Education and Support, which teaches doctors that they should use all of our symptoms to daignose a syndrome, which I have called, Cini's Pituitary Syndrome. I have asked the PDES to submit it for publication. While many doctors may tell you that the symptoms that you are experiencing has nothing to do with your pituitary tumor, I must disagree. I have heard from numerous pituitary patients from around the world, who have the same symptoms that you have. While I can tell you that I believe that the tumor and or your hormone imbalances are making you sick, I have not found a cure yet. I have had to change my lifestyle drastically due to the symptoms that I have. If you care to email me, I would be happy to discuss this with you further. You can reach me at [EMAIL PROTECTED]
