Discovery Health Channel Announces ANATOMY OF A GIANT - Story Of Sun Ming Ming ANATOMY OF A GIANT follows the incredible journey of Sun Ming Ming, a young man who dreams of a life beyond his home in China to one in the ultra-competitive NBA in America.
Ming is the world's second tallest man, standing seven-feet-nine inches tall. Tragically, the very thing that makes him a coach's dream may also end his life.
Ming suffers from a tumor in his pituitary gland, causing it to secrete excessive amounts of the growth hormone responsible for his tremendous height. Because he developed this condition as an adolescent, the plates at the ends of his bones did not seal as normally occurs in the growth process.
Over time, Ming's heart simply will not be able to grow along with him; his key organs will fail and all his dreams will die along with him. Only in the U.S. can Ming find the help he needs.
