Granted, I am new to the whole pituitary tumor thing, but I am not new to the medical system.

From my perspective, it boils down to this:
You are the comsumer. You have PURCHASED the services of (insert name here) physician. Like any other hired hand (pardon my distaste...let's just say I'm not a big fan of physicians), they can be hired and fired.

It sounds like you are pretty solid on what you want done and why. It also sounds like you may well have one up on the physician whom you recently hired (i.e., that you know more, at this juncture, than he/she does when it comes to Cushings-related phenomena).

It saddens me when physicians assume a 'high and mighty' role, and do their level best to appear "god-like" to we peon patients. Physicians are not gods. They are human beings who are fallible, just like all of us. Unfortunately, some of these particular human beings hold our lives (or the quality of them, at least) in their hands.

Probably due (in part) to the fact that I am really irritable on this subject (and that I'm antsy b/c I'm waiting on test results), I'd like to wring the neck of the physician you spoke of in your above post.

I APPLAUD you for insisting on testing you want run. I APPLAUD you for bringing to the attention of your physician that you are not a 'sheep' to be 'herded', but an informed consumer who will take an active part in her own treatment.

Hang in there, SP. And remember, if you are unhappy with this physician, PLEASE do not hesitate to move on. If you had hired a painter to paint your living room red, and he missed one wall, painted another green, and accused YOU of having chosen the wrong color, would you hire him again?
