My health insurance sent a RN to my house. I agree to it. She said she was a
patient advocate to help with information and how to deal with the my
situation. I am guessing she was sent to assess my situation where I stand.
Here is the dillema: As a self employed person, I was in the process of
sending short term disability applicatioin when I got sick and never sent the
papers. I have not been able to drive since May 2006 because I feel dizzy, and
get these weird tremors which no doctor seems to figure why I have; maybe
related to my second condition not related to the pit tumor. P.S. I had surgery
on 9/11/07. So my husband quit his job, we are primarily living off our home
equity line. He quit his job last year in November to care for me and help me
with my business. I'm a private investigator so I can do interviews and do
reports, and he drove me to my appts. The RN today suggested she is going to
get information re: social security for me. She said that if I am disabled for
two years social security takes over (but it is very difficult to get so I may
want to file now anyway.) If I still cant work at two years then I can apply
for medicare and stop my health insurance. (I think this is the reason why they
send the RN to my house because two years is around the corner.) Not knowing
all of this. I told her that I had not thought far ahead and I actually think I
am going to get better. I thought worse case, if I cant drive, I would hire a
driver to drive me around. So my question is could I be considered perment
disabled if I cant drive and would I be able to hire a driver expense it as
business expense or do I have to stop working altogether and not work. I
really had not thought about this. I can only hope for the best and keep the
faith in God I will recover. Do any of you have a suggestions or information
about social security and your experience? What type of an attorney would
address this issue??? Have any of you dealt with this? Alex
