Dear Laura, FYI I am 43 years old and had an 8 mm tumor. my first endo gave
me .5 cabergoline twice a week and that was too much for me. I had
palpitations, tremors (dystonia reaction) headaches, arousal feeling 24/7. I
switch endos. Once I went to the ER, and I called the doctor on call at UCSF
San Francisco. The endo on call said it looks like this dosage of cabergoline
was too high and brings your adrenaline high that is why I had tremors
dystonia. After switching to another endocronologist I had the dosage lowered.
.25 twice a week or .5 once a week. I dont remember how I reduced but I felt
better. My prolactin level went from 1.9 to 30 which is high, but it was 71
when I started. Eventually the endo sent me to Dr. Blevins who is now the
director at UCSF and moved here from Nashville, TN. He opted for surgery
because I did not do well with cabergoline and I feel better now. I have other
health issues but overall my prolactin level is now a 9 and I dont take the
meds. I'll get monitored every year from now on. Good luck with your mom, I
know it must be difficult for you. Try to get your mom to see some other
doctors nearby Seattle or where she lives. If you can come to San Franciso I
would highly recommed Dr. Lewis Blevins and the surgeon Dr. Sundeep Kunwar.
