When I was 27, I had a large cyst encompassing one of my ovaries (I had similar
symptoms to you but luckily they found the cyst before I collapsed). The ovary
had to be removed. A few years later my periods became very irregular. It
took several more years for the docs to diagnose prolactinoma... and then at
34, when I started taking dostinex, my periods returned - but very heavily. I
became severely anemic. It turns out I had a huge fibroid in my uterus which
had to be removed. While there's not way to know whether the prolactinoma
presented itself before I was 27, I am sure that all of these health problems
are interrelated. In my 20's, I had always struggled with PMS, depression,
anxiety, acne - unbalanced hormones. But I don't know if the prolactinoma is
the "chicken or the egg"... did the pit tumor develop as the result of
fluctuating hormones (perhaps brought on by stress) or did the hormones become
irregular because of the tumor?
