Man Oh Man has it been a rough few days. The endo faxed the prescription for
the sandostatin on on Monday 4/14. I called and made sure it arrived. I called
back on wed to see when they might call to arrange shipment. Fri or Mon I was
told. Well Sunday we ran out of samples. Tuesday night the headache returned.
WEdnesday was worse. I called and called and finally they said the pharmacist
had a question for the dr. Okay called endo and told him to call pharmacist.
Called back and was told everything was cool and it would ship wed evening for
delivery thurs. Bill's in agony but not a whole lot we can do. So I call Thurs
morning and was told sorry it didn't ship and a supervisor would call me back.
2 hrs later I hadn't heard anything so I called them. Oh we're sorry yes it did
ship and it should be there by 3pm. 2:30 no meds yet but the endo called. It
seems there was a possible conflict between Bill's Risperdal for his bipolar
and the sandostatin which could cause irregular heartbeats. After consulting
with a cardiologist, he and the endo decide the best course of action is to
admist Bill to the hospital for 4 days and give him the medicine while on a
heart monitor and do EKG's and make sure it's safe. So he was admitted to the
hospital Thurs at 5:55. He finally got the shot about 11:00 that night. His
endo showed up at the hospital at 10:30pm and stayed until the first post-shot
EKG at 2am and then came back Fri morning and Sat morning. In the end they
determined after 6 8hr doses and pre and post EKG's that it did not cause
enough of a change in Bill to be dangerous so he came home this afternoon. He
does have to have a chemical stress test/ echocardiogram on monday though. He's
had a cold for about a week and is still a tad congested and coughs. This
causes his chest to hurt. Well the endo and the cardio want to make sure it's
nothing more dangerous like arthrosclorosis (hope I got that right) which can
develop in acro patients. So Monday morning it's off to the endo for a thyroid
stymulating shot and then echo mon afternoon and then teusday another thyroid
stimulating shot and then wed is radioiodine. Poor thing he's been poked and
proded so much in the last week it's not even funny. Annetta and Bill
