Thanks. I'm sure you'll understand this but I just hate it when you can't get
thru one thing before something else creeps up. Or in this case Blindsides you.
I feel bad for him. I feel bad for me. But we will both take a deep breath and
be thankful for the wonderful doctors who take such good care of him. I really
feel they care. And that's very important to me. I have a week off from work in
5 more weeks so hopefully all this will be overwith by then and we can just
settle back and enjoy the time together. As for the insurance, I know the
pharmacist was just trying to look out for Bill in bringing the possible
interaction to the dr's attention but his headaches have gotten so severe when
he doesn't have the sandostatin. He is taking the quick acting stuff. His
Somavert is doing it's job for the IGF-1 levels so he will only need the
sandostatin as needed for the heachaches. I feel bad because looking back he's
had these headaches off and on for at least the last year and I didn't catch
on. We just figured a headache was a headache. He'd go to sleep for 8-12 hrs
and typically feel better. But then a couple of weeks ago he developed a
headache that did not go away, sleep or no sleep and it last for 2 1/2 weeks.
He called the endo after about 2 weeks and he asked if we had any narcotics. We
did so he advised Bill to take one and see what happens. It took it down but
not away. So he had a regular visit scheduled and we went in and he just
happened to have 10 samples of sandostatin on hand and he gave Bill a shot and
10 mins later the headache was gone. The endo knew Bill was on Risperdal but
had no clue that the 2 meds could potentially interact. I think when the endo
realized they could it really shook him up. I don't blame him at all. With all
the meds Bill's on (14 now) it's very difficult to know how everything will
interact. Luckily the pharmacist caught it and nothing bad happened. At current
rate he will probably need 2 shots every 3 days for the headaches. Not alot in
the grand scheme of things. Sorry if I'm rambling. I guess I am still a bit
mentally tired. On top of everything else he's still fighting off a bit of
chest congestion from his recent cold. ACK!
