----------------------------------------------------------- From: Chris_Wenninger Message 4 in Discussion Jason had surgery on Tuesday morning. Dr. McCutcheon believed that a big area of what looked like scar tissue could very possibly be active tumor. Our doctor in Wisconsin did not feel that way. When Dr. M. got into the area he found that it was almost entirely made up of tumor with only a small bit of scar tissue. He video taped the surgery for Jason. Normally, they do not do that, but because Jason had been through so much to have the surgery in Houston Dr. M wanted to do something special for him. I have not seen the video yet, but I am really curious about what the tumor looked like. Dr. M took out everything he could see, and he said he was pleased becuase the tumor came away from the normal structures without problem. Wouldn't it be amazing if he got it all. Of course we all know how insidious these beasts are. We are a little worried about DI right now. Jason has been producing a ton of urine, and so they are watching him closely. So far the urine and blood tests show that his values are within normal limits. The people of Houston continue to struggle with the aftermath of Hurricane Ike. Most of the stop lights still have no power to them, and many of the businesses are still closed. Each day more homes get power back, but many will be without power for at least a week more. What amazes me is that these people come to work with a smile on their faces each day, making do with what they have. Matter-of-factly discussing having to throw out all of the food and scrub down their refridgerators. I have had very few issues with the service provided by M D Anderson except maybe the fact that their time table is not necessarily normal time. Everything is a little laid back, but maybe that attitude is what allows them to take the storm in stride. Well - if you have time spare a moment for Jason and the people here in Texas. I do believe that positive thought helps heal all kinds of wounds.
