I had a microprolactinoma-3cm. for almost 20 years. This year I had my 3rd
follow-up MRI and the tumor is gone! I have been on bromocriptine-1.75
milligrams for 10 years which helped control the tumor and possibly shrink it
as well--yet 1 year ago, when I cut down the amount of bromo. I was taking, my
prolactin levels went up, which probably meant I still had the tumor. Now, when
I cut the level of bromo., my prolactin stays the same-18. (It was 80 before
and without treatment 20 years ago.) The only thing that I changed this year
was taking a new supplement by this company called NeuroScience, which was
supposed to help my depresssion and anxiety, which I finally have under control
because of this, I'm sure. it's as effective as the lexapro I was on without
the side effects. I took a urine test they give you which showed my seratonin
levels and dopomine levels were very, very low. After supplementation, the
levels are now normal. So how does this relate to the tumor? Well, I'm
guessing, but bromo acts as a dopamine agoist(sp?) , right? So perhaps my
inherent dopamine deficiency led to the tumor--who knows? Anyhow, I checked
the bottle of this supplement that is supposed to raise dopamine, and it
contains certain vitamins, and, most importantly, L Dopa, which raises this
neurotransmitter. Well, of course this can't be scientifically proven, but I
really think this product shrank away this tumor, finally, I'm still on Bromo
because I was told by my endo that without it the tumor will come back, but
perhaps this supplement alone could keep the tumor at bay-I haven't tried that
yet. But I really feel this could have been the key to shrinking my
microprolactinoma. I just wanted to share this with you. Even if this was not
the case, these supplements have totally changed my horrible moods--it took a
number of months though, so one has to be patient. Thanks!
