----------------------------------------------------------- New Message on Pituitary Chat
----------------------------------------------------------- From: Willard1H Message 2 in Discussion Could you have a pituitary tumor? YES. or NO. Diagnosing is really not a strong point of a message board. As someone here pointed out recently, even the best doctor could not give you a firm answer over the internet. See the doctor you mention. DO press for an MRI, usually the most effective way to image a tumor. If successful in that request, also ask for the health facility's lab to do comprehensive blood testing. Most of us as at Pit Chat join after a team of doctors gives us that crucial diagnosis. Only then do we immediately consider ourselves SURVIVORS. You seem to understand it is indeed that important to know, YES or NO, whether you have a tumor like you suspect. But it's not for us to say. You've done some good work in the observation of your symptoms. This should help your medical team tremendously. And yes, they are similar to those of so many of our Pit Chat members. You are correct that some doctors and endos only treat these symptoms, which you sense are "fuzzy" and hard to nail down. Some of our members have previously been handicapped by an endocrinologist without much experience in Pituitary issues. Like you have found, these docs may feel more comfortable in dealing with diabetes and more common glandular issues. To help find a good one: tell us where you live, and I feel confident someone here can recommend a qualified endo in your part of the nation or the world. You are correct in linking your thyroid issues to a possible Pit Tumor problem. The Pituitary is known as "the master gland," because it 'controls' the thyroid and all the other glands in the body. I'm hypothyroid, along with having a hormone-secreting pituitary tumor. They're interrelated. Keep researching, and read content from the blue sidebar on this page. And keep in touch with us here on the message board. Ordinarily we're not so slow to respond, but resolving your question is pretty much impossible for us. Hope this helps or gives you encouragement in time for meeting your medical people this week. LK, you're in our prayers.
