Both of these are are easily achieved with prompt, alert, sheet, or dialog
with the right components put into it (body component in the case of prompt
or alert, content component in the case of sheet or dialog). It's easy
enough to read WTKX and stick it into the window at the right place.  For
reference, I've just been working with GTK+, and they take the same
approach.  Then again, why not post your results to a JIRA ticket when
you're done as a contribution, and we'll review it to se if it's generic
enough to make sense at the platform level.
