Tom Thanks for your response.

I installed sunstudio express by "pkg install sunstudioexpress" and found it is
not visiable
from pkginfo command only from "pkg info sunstudioexpress"

-bash-3.2# pkginfo |grep -i sunstudio
-bash-3.2# pkg info sunstudioexpress
          Name: sunstudioexpress
Summary: Sun Studio Express - C, C++, & Fortran compilers and Tools
         State: Installed

Packaging Date: Wed Apr 30 21:10:32 2008
          Size: 566.2 MB
          FMRI: pkg:/[EMAIL PROTECTED],5.11-0.86:20080430T211032Z
-bash-3.2#

Looks like SVR4 PMS is in legacy mode on Solaris 11.

I will study more about IPS vs SVR4 package format.

Hope you don't mind my another question.

Mac OS X,Solaris intel/sparc, RH Linux and Windows are listed as IPS supported
OS platforms.

Does this mean i can run "pkg install SUNWgcc" on all the OS above and expect a
version gcc got installed on those OS ?
