The tests/pylintrc file does have the following:

indent-string=' '

(there are 8 spaces there)
However, I just noticed it also has the following:

disable-msg=C0103,C0111,W0311,W0312,W0511

W0311 is the bad indentation message.

Both comments addressed.

How are you running pylint?

I was using the "python setup.py lint" command, and it sets the maximum line
length to 90 in the tests/pylintrc file. It also didn't generate the indent
...
As for the indentation, I believe I've been using --indent-string="
" in addition to the defaults for pylint.

For clarity (since my mail client seems to have butchered that), I
have been using --indent-string="(8 spaces)".
