While I'm not up on IPS/python to comment on the code changes, I
looked through the data portions of this (i.e. distro-import/*/*),
and see a few corrections/suggestions for the packages I'm most
familiar with:
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWdfbh:
src/util/distro-import/00/i386/SUNWagph:
- these are actually headers, not drivers, so should be under
Development/System, not Drivers/Display
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWfwdc:
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWusbvc:
- these are for webcams (i.e. video input, not output), so I'd
call them Drivers/Media, not Drivers/Display
src/util/distro-import/100a/i386/SUNWdrmr
- DRM are the Direct Rendering Modules for graphics cards, so these are
also Drivers/Display
src/util/distro-import/96/i386/SUNWnge:
- nge is nvidia's ethernet, not video driver, so it should be
Drivers/Networking, not /Display
src/util/distro-import/100a/i386/NVDAgraphics:
- this is nvidia's video driver, which I would expect under Drivers/Display
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWgnu-coreutils:
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWgnu-diffutils:
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWgnu-which:
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWgzip:
src/util/distro-import/76/common/SUNWggrp:
src/util/distro-import/89/common/SUNWbzip:
src/util/distro-import/96/common/SUNWgsed:
- These seem more like System/Text Tools or Applications/System Utilities
than Development packages (just because they're from GNU doesn't mean
they have to go under Development/GNU).
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWvts*:
- VTS is the hardware test tool, so System/Hardware seems a closer fit than
Development
src/util/distro-import/00/common/SUNWxorg-graphics-ddx:
- These are video drivers for Xorg, so could also be under Drivers/Display
(System/X11 works too, so it's flip a coin time)
src/util/distro-import/87/common/SUNWmemcached
- I believe this fits better under Web Services/Application and Web Servers
(It's not used by the system, but by web servers trying to scale to handle
more traffic.)
src/util/distro-import/90/common/SUNWfetchmail:
- this is a mail client, so seems more Applications/Internet than
System/Administration and Configuration
src/util/distro-import/92/i386/SUNWxvm
- wouldn't this be System/Virtualization instead of Development/System?
src/util/distro-import/94/common/SUNWircii
- IRC clients don't seem a very core part of the system, much more like
Applications/Internet
