I'm all for making it easy, this discussion is just about where it's 
being kept.

I think what they were trying to say is that the overwhelming majority 
of our target audience are not likely to recompile packages.  More than 
likely, they're going to pick a repository that has the software 
configured the way they want, and use that instead.

However, as I said before, I'm all for making it easy.  I'm just picky 
about where the bits are kept.
