sorry, im a bit of a newbie to solaris so you might have to elaborate, i tried :

devi...@saito:~$ pfexec pkgrm -R SUNWevolution
Install_root (-R option) requires an absolute pathname:
<SUNWevolution>
pkgrm: ERROR: Command line install root contends with environment.

i find that i am unable to remove the sunwevolution package or its
libraries using the package manager, stating dependencies. does anyone have
any ideas as to why this might be? i am attempting to remove the
sunwevolution package and all its related packages at once.

There must be packages which depend on SUNWevolution, which prevent its
removal. You can remove it and all the packages that depend on it by
giving the -r (recurse) option to uninstall.
