I think that would just prolong the pain. In a future OpenSolaris.com release, I would like to see all old pkg* commands removed and linked to a short script printing some explanatory text. Oh, and remove the relevant directory trees under /var/sadm. A clean cut hurts more at present but will make it much easier in the long run.
