Brock,
Thanks. I see that this is not a part of manifest data, so it's
unfortunately not supported :(
I wonder then if it make sense to perform search for the
description and then local query to get package name then? Or maybe
allow to search against description or name and at some point the
fmri will be available in the repositores??
I might note that the value of legacy actions would be a great
workaround for a lot of packages in the meantime.
As an example, look at this output:
http://pkg.opensolaris.org/search/0/SUNWvim
legacy_pkg legacy SUNWvim
pkg:/[email protected],5.11-0.93:20080708T171331Z
...snip...
While not all packages have a legacy action, most do, and that is
available on the server.
So, you could always search these in *addition* to the fmri.
Cheers,
Well, we index the legacy actions, so you're certainly welcome to
search on them. I think that adding legacy actions to all packages
just for naming them might be controversial. I think adding the name
directly is more likely to be something we can all agree on. My hope
is that it will be a simple, quick fix. I just haven't had a chance
to look into it yet to find that out.
I agree, but I'm just pointing out that a large number of packages
already have the legacy action, so it shouldn't hurt to include them
in the search and it will help get us by "better" for the moment.
Ah, I certainly agree then.
Brock
