I limited my mutt view of pkg-discuss to

    ! (~s review | ~s CR | ~h "X-scm-notification: True")

(that's "review" in the subject, case-sensitive "CR" in the subject, or
that header) and knocked off more than half of the messages in the mailbox.
There were a couple of code review requests left, but they were short
threads. Given that almost everyone does their code reviews via webrevs on
cr.opensolaris.org, a body filter for http://cr.opensolaris.org/ might do a
slightly better job.

It's really not that hard.

Alternatively, read the mailbox every couple of days, at which point most
threads can be deleted almost in their entirety in a single stroke.

I've rarely seen a user/dev list split where it was worth subscribing to
just one. Particularly for an evolving product, the distinctions are often
difficult to determine, even for someone experienced in both lists.
Ultimately, I think it's less work for the readers to filter the lists
themselves. If you need a representative from your team to be up on
pkg-discuss and let everyone else ignore it, maybe you can consolidate
effort that way.
