OK. I'll do this. > On Thu, Mar 26, 2009 at 11:58:33AM +0000, Tomasz Kloczko wrote: > > > For example I want to start working on few packages for submit to SJ but > > I can not start working on this because there is no package with > > pkgbuild tool in /rel or even /dev IPS repositories. > > You could make a case for pkgbuild going into /dev. I'm a little confused because this detail makes IMO final SJ announcement value much lower than it could be with prepared in IPS repo package with this tool. It is like building from scratch car but on the end at the final presentation how this new car works someone forger about .. fuel in tank ;-) IMO now put pkgbuild in IPS repo should have higher priority :) > > First: I know that traditional/"normal" Solaris package has listed > > in files list all directories .. but IMO it is bad habit. > > IMO if we want to start working on some new way of packaging we should drop > > this habit. > > Base directories hierarchy should be only in some core distribution package > > .. and nowhere else. > > We're eventually going to do that, yes, but probably not until we start > producing pkg(5) packages without going through SVr4 first. OK point taken .. but what do you think about this: as long as for generate IPS and SVr4 packages will be used pkgbuild adding all this directories to SRv4 packages content can be automatically added by SVr4 packages generator backend. On a frontend description (spec file) everything can be clean without all this directories .. probably even now (?)
