Sounds like part of what PackageKit offers on Linux, which supports
various package manager backends:
<http://www.packagekit.org>
It also provides a package manager GUI and other related features that
look a lot like the ones in OpenSolaris, but I'm guessing we probably
don't want to throw away everything we've done to replace it with
PackageKit. Licensing permitting, we might be able to reuse some of
their ideas, though...
