Sounds good to me. I've always wondered why a new BE was being created in such an instance. Related to this (I think): What about having an option to automatically create a snapshot when one or more packages is being installed/updated and a new BE is not being created for that purpose? Ideally, the snapshot would be user-nameable -- or given a name reflective of the activity rather than a timestamp.
