I was asking if those actions in gui ( set release to preferred and
finally removing `dev' from the list altogether) should have taken
care of the publisher changing to release too.
Yes, it is likely you encountered a bug in the packagemanager GUI that
has been fixed in a newer version already. There was a similar one
reported recently and fixed.
