Unfortunately, even if were smart enough to do that, SUNWgvim is not

Erm, I am using 2008.11. Can you explain what the error message
actually means? I have something in my installation that is newer
than what's available on the repo? Can I force this in? If yes, what
are the future implications?

erm .. i think he means - SUNWgvim is not available for 2008.11 - you have
to upgrade to 2009.06 (snv 111) which was really released in 20090508

(it gets a little confusing with all the numbers .. eg:
2009.06 05.11-0.111
2008.11 05.11-0.101
2008.05 05.11-0.086
)

image-update and go for it .. you can still fall back to 2008.11 with beadm
if you need to test stuff there.
