Enda, what was this system initially installed with? OpenSolaris
2008.05 and the earlier preview releases had an issue where the
"slim_install" group package was left on the installed system but that
was addressed for 2008.11 and beyond.

Thanks fro replying, I posted to openaudio as well, so Garrett is
helping out, actually appears that hardware might be busted, looking
into taht avenue.
Anyway this was 2008.05 upgraded to 2009.06, then onwards from internal
dev to 123. I'm actually going to reinstall 2009 release, as I've been
messing too much with things here and there, so a fresh install from
latest should clean things up, then have a look at audio. I might try
the pkg uninstall -r to see how that goes. reinstalling package won't
help though as it now appears my hardware is most likely busted somehow.
