Can I ask: what are the implications here? Will existing binaries fail
verification after this change? Will I be able to install software
from e.g. extra/ without republishing with the new hash algorithm?
I am just concerned about the ripple effects. Perhaps I misunderstand
the change or how all of the hashes interact. The description of
the testing also seems a little incomplete to me: have you run
pkg verify after this fix? What about install packages onto a system
which has this patch applied?
I had always assumed that we would need to go to "elfhashv2" in
order to effect this change without massive breakage resulting,
so I am confused. Sorry I didn't get my review comments in soon
enough.
