Because when I look for new applications in the internet <put favorite search engine here> will spit out a project name. On the homepage of this project I can check out the features and how it looks like and then decide if I want to install it. If I then can just run "pkg install project" instead of going to pkg.o.o first and search (or using pkg search) and filter out the results the latter is more work for me.
