Are there timings out there for areas of C code that are still slow and CPU bound? Has anyone considered OpenMP for these? >> I'm not sure what crypto package Brock has settled on for manifest >> signing, but it might be good to make sure that gets some optimizer love >> by default. > > Again, that's probably just going to be a shim on top of openssl. Please be sure that it has pkcs11 engine support. The ssh enhancement to take advantage of the Niagara 2 crypto units speeds up scp by 3x on a T5220. This makes scp on a T5220 almost as fast as a 5 year old Opteron. Having pkg on a new sparc system 3x as slow on as a 5 year old Opteron is quite unacceptable. -- Mike Gerdts http://mgerdts.blogspot.com/ _______________________________________________ pkg-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-discuss
