We've decided to go with "solaris-studio-express" as the package name. I'll submit a new request for a code review soon. Thanks for the feedback! ---- I think we need to keep the "x" suffix on individual component package names for now. We're not doing the FCS release yet, and I'm still not sure how we should manage multiple FCS versions of the compilers. If I release a package called "cc" with the express release, I'll just make my life more complicated when it comes time to release the FCS packages. Our goal is that "pkg install cc" should just do the right thing without any complications. We want to emphasize FCS releases over express releases, and we want to emphasize the latest FCS release over earlier releases. We also want users to be able to install and update older versions of FCS releases when that is necessary. It's not clear at this point whether we're going to use VEREXEC for the upcoming FCS release, and that affects how the packages are organized. If we don't use VEREXEC, there are several different arrangements that would give us most of what we want. We could use empty packages with dependencies to select what "cc" maps to. We could republish binaries in both versioned and unversioned package names to support both multiple installs and a default install. There is still some head-scratching to do here. --chris > > --chris > > > > > > > >> It may even be useful to do this with different versions of Studio >> Express, though this is admittedly far less useful. >> >> Rainer >> > > _______________________________________________ > pkg-discuss mailing list > [email protected] > http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-discuss _______________________________________________ pkg-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/pkg-discuss
