The malformed URL error you're getting from pkgsend probably has more to do
with the need for a "file://" at the beginning than the underscore.
It's true that the limitation isn't documented anywhere. I'm not sure why
the limitation exists at all; I can't find any discussion about it in the
mailing list. I know I'm a bit of an underscore hater, but not, I think,
to this extent.
Hm. Weird - I was actually using a file:// uri scheme
there, but it didn't seem to be coming through.
