All of this logic is part of cherrypy; not the pkg code itself.
I'm sure they'd welcome contributions to make it more efficient :)
Sigh, I knew that the pkg tools should have been written in C and not
python.

I should point out that my comment here reflects upon my own ignorance
of python (of which cherry python is just one flavour with its own quirks)
and not that of the team in choosing it as their development language for
this project.
