Spent some time with Bart & a white board today discussing this,
and came to some conclusions:
- Which facets are used are a distro decision, and the facets.txt
was meant to show examples. We should document the facets for
Solaris on the "IPS Transition for Consolidations" now, and
somewhere in the eventual Solaris admin guides.
- Tagging docs & man pages with the devel facet is probably not what
we want to do, and thus I'll remove them from my transforms, since
that causes them to be installed when no docs are wanted, and many
developer docs are useful even on non-development systems, such as
when trying to figure out what can cause a function call to return
a specific errno value in your truss output or what system call
arguments you want to look for in your dtrace script.
- Each file/dir action should be tagged with the most specific form of
facet that applies, so I need to fix my transforms to not set facet.doc
and facet.doc.html/pdf on the same files.
The specific case of localized man pages is still an open item, but at
least right now, that's mainly limited to a single case - the Japanese
man pages delivered for ON, and Bart will have to think about that more
and discuss with the ON team how to adjust their current transforms.
