Well apparently some things work: libphone-ui-shr build-depends on it so assumably uses some parts of it (unless libphone-ui-shr also build-depends on itself which would be even more horrible).
It seems to me that if the build-dependency is sane, then phoneuid should recommend (not depend on) libphone-ui-shr.
