Do you have a pointer to this bug? I do know of one other unsolved bug that might impact tomcat5 usage. If you get reports of "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Zip file already closed: common/lib/commons-pool-1.2.jar" then it most likely is http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=22906 (Invalid handling of cache in JarURLConnection).
