Sounds good to me! I am not an expert in soname handling, though. I think the common thinking is that we should not as distro "invent" SONAME but leave that yo upstream, because ideally it should be identical across distros. But concretely for v8 I guess that is highly unlikely to happen - and we should deal with it when it does.
