Package: k3b

Severity: important

hal is used by k3b for finding devices. Without hal installed, k3b
shows the following error message:

No optical drive found.
K3b did not find any optical device in your system.
Solution: Make sure HAL daemon is running, it is used by K3b for finding
devices.

So, k3b without hal is rather useless. Nevertheless, k3b does not depend
on hal (and doesn't recommend or suggest hal).

I think the problem is a bit more complex, because i have hal running but still k3b does not find the device it should.

Gentoo users report compiling k3b against policykit instead of hal as a workaround:

Upgrading udisks and libgdu solved my issue, so just ignore my last email. Sorry.

thanks,
