Also, last time I checked ubuntu's CDBS is different from debian's, so some inconsistencies may be found there.I tend to think this is a bug in autotools.mk not supporting calling the autotools chain.
Feel free to file bugreports against CDBS. I seems above, however, that Alessio was talking about experiences with short-form dh7, not CDBS.
