It seems not a issue with builder, instead the workaround for arm/armel in debian/rules is not neede anymore. Just remove the block from: http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-pulseaudio/pulseaudio.git;a=blob;f=debian/rules;h=c9fc6fd3bbf8592c78beb737e73197065f0d1155;hb=HEAD#l42 Also I xz is now the default for .debs, so you can also drop the 84 DEB_DH_BUILDDEB_ARGS = -- -Zxz line from debian/rules.
