Unplugging the drive, the error goes away.
Besides this, the optical drive becomes unusable. After a while, It hangs on
every attempt to burn CDs or DVDs, ruining the disc.

I assume this happened in the mean time. So we don't have any means to
debug this further in a reasonable way, especially testing it with a
newer udev version. Thus closing the bug report.
