Sadly it doesn't. Current (22) version fails running:
ln -s "$INITCTL" "$OLDINITCTL.new"
This is still present in the git version.
fakechroot does not pretend pathes under /dev are in the faked chroot,
and hence basically any attempt to modify the file system there will fail.
