Package: initscripts
Version: 2.86.ds1-36
Severity: wishlist

I'm unable to find any convincing reason why the /lib/init/rw tmpfs
remains mounted after boot. Another late-boot initscript could be added
to unmount it in the name of general mtab cleanliness.

Is there any reason why this couldn't be done?

The /lib/init/rw filesystem has now been superseded and replaced
by /run. This is also a tmpfs, and is persistent for the
entire lifetime of the running system. Unlike /lib/init/rw,
which was Debian-specific, this is cross-distribution and
standardised in the (forthcoming new version of) the FHS.

I'm closing this bug because
- /lib/init/rw is gone
- /run, its replacement, will not ever be unmounted after boot.

Regards,
Roger
