Aptitude and apt both pull in gnome-session and gnome-settings-daemon, nautilus, and a bunch of other gnome stuff that is irrelevant / unwanted for xfce (and which defaults the purpose of a small DE) because of a (known) bug in apt and aptitude. gdm depends on gnome-session | x-terminal-emulator xfce4 depends on xfce4-terminal xfce4-terminal provides x-terminal-emulator however despite this xfce4-desktop pulls in gnome-session and it's dependencies (including (ick) nautilus). Can gdm depend on something else so that xfce4-desktop satisfies the dependency?
