I have not been following this problem, but if we need to allow the user to set 
the rendering mode and options, could it be placed in the user's .gazeborc 
file.  Previous versions of Gazebo placed the render settings in the world 
files and this can be annoying if you use the same world files across several 
systems with different capabilities.
