Hi all,

I'm interested in packaging Gazebo for inclusion in Fedora's repositories.
I'm responsible for packaging Stage in Fedora, and I'm a co-maintainer of
the Player package. Since I'm not an expert with Gazebo quite yet, I have a
few questions about functionality and features I'd like to raise before I
proceed any further.

1. libavcodec & libavformat are not available in Fedora's main repositories
due to patent concerns. Would building Gazebo without support for these
libraries be a deal-breaker?

2. gazebo-0.10 compiles and runs against a Bullet library that is built
without double precision enabled, after the bullet cflags cmake variable is
edited. However, the latest svn snapshots fail to configure without double
precision. The bullet libraries in Fedora are not compiled with double
precision enabled, is there any way to still build gazebo or should I file
an RFE against the bullet packages to enable double precision?

3. Gazebo seems to be under very heavy development, and 0.10.0 is already
quite behind svn. I'm inclined to package an svn snapshot instead of
release 0.10.0, is there any particular revision that you can identify as
being a good candidate? Otherwise I'll probably go with the latest when I
build the package.

Any insight into these questions would be greatly appreciated, and let me
know if you have any questions, concerns, or issues with packaging Gazebo.

Thanks,

Rich Mattes
