Hmm.

'minirtl-i386SX-V2.3.img' and 'minirtl-i386-v2.3.img' both reboot my
machine.

I watched it a little closer this time.  It decompresses and boots the
kernel, and then shows some sort of splash screen for a second or two
before my box reboots.
