I would not expect software to perform as well under VMWare as it does on the
real hardware; if performance (throughput) of a system is that critical, then
dedicate the hardware it requires.
When the convenience afforded by VMWare and the like overrides the performance
penalty, then is the time to run such software. However, if anyone thinks
they're going to get good results running VMWARe or Plex86 or anything else on
a Pentium 100 with 16 Mbytes of RAM (a system I bought not so long ago)
they're going to be acutely disappointed.
If you want to run Linux and NT concurrently and get decent performance, you
need decent hardware.

The merits are measurable, and to a large extent favour C++.
It's fairly clear that performance isn't an issue for lots of folk here; while
some use PINE, others use MS software or Netscape or Sylpheed for their email;
presumably because it's easier or more productive.
