Let me explain this in simpler terms. When you compile a module, it uses
source files that are in the /usr/src/linux directory. If you get unresolved
symbol errors, it means the kernel you are running does not match the source
code in /usr/src/linux.
Since you are pretty sure that you have the same source code as the kernel,
to test it you should download a new kernel, compile it, recompile plex86
and see if it works. If it still fails, then you have a real problem.
